Marathon Training

When I left Baghdad I traveled to the Pyrennes Mountains in France, while I was there I made a list of these things I wanted to accomplish.  Some had 2012 due-dates, others a birthday milestone, and some were just simply bucket-list aspirations.  Well one of my 2012 goals was to run a marathon.

So…this week I registered to run the 28 October 2012 Marine Corps Marathon!!! Immediately afterwards I doubted why I did such a thing, and then I remembered…I am running for charity.  I am running the 26.2 miles to raise money and awareness for the Fisher House Foundation, which provides free housing to military families as they help their injured and sick soldiers recover.  I’ll be posting about them again.

I have not really been running since August, although I have been pretty active with hiking, backpacking, and biking.  Lots of biking.  But I am very thankful that I have about 8 months  to train for the MCM.

I will be posting some mundane things, likely as an “aside” or “status” with such as my mileage to help motivate and track, but also some of the things that I learn along the way.  This is my first marathon, its a little scary but my dad ran 3 and my family is a huge support.  As is Team Fisher House.
